Introducción

Los formación de Amon Düül II por aquel entonces era: Chris Karrer (violín, guitarra, saxofón, guitarra de 12 cuerdas, voz), Peter Leopold (batería, piano), Falk Rogner (órgano y sintetizadores), John Weinzierl (guitarras, piano, voz), Lothar Meid (bajo) y Renate Knaup (voz).
En este artículo nos ocupamos del álbum Hijack publicado en 1974.
El álbum Hijack
El álbum Hijack es el octavo álbum de Amon Düül II publicado en el año 1974 con Atlantic Records (K 50136). En el Reino Unido fue distribuido por WEA Records.
El álbum fue producido por Wild Willy y Amon Düül II. La portada fue diseñada por Chris Karrer con una pintura de Patrick v. Spreckelsen. Las funda interior tiene fotos de Falk-U. Rogner.
La grabación de este álbum marcó una reunión de corta duración para la mayoría de los miembros del Amon Düül original: la vocalista Renate Knaup-Kroetenschwanz, el guitarrista / vocalista Chris Karrer, el guitarrista John Weinzierl, el baterista Peter Leopold, el bajista y arreglista de cuerdas Lothar Meid y el gurú de los sintetizadores Falk U. Rogner (las hermanas Helge y Angelika Filanda y Ulrich Leopold se perdieron en el mundo de las comunas hippies y no regresaron para este álbum).

Reseña de Thom Jurek en AllMusic: Lanzado en 1974, Hijack de Amon Düül II (o "Hi-jack", como fue lanzado en Alemania) no es frecuentemente (si es que alguna vez) considerado como uno de sus mejores álbumes. De hecho, el autor Ingmar Schrober le da unas pocas frases en Tanz der Lemmings, su biografía de la banda publicada en 1979. En su mayor parte, este rechazo crítico es preciso, los fans y los críticos parecen estar de acuerdo por una vez, la mayor parte de lo que hay aquí es un progresivo psicológico desenfocado, muy pulido y serpenteante que no va a ninguna parte.

Mi opinión sobre el álbum
El álbum muestra que la transición hacia un rock más convencional y comercial comenzada en el álbum anterior se ha completado. Esto supone un alejamiento del rock progresivo y del cósmico. Mantienen los aires psicodélicos en algunos temas. El álbum se deja escuchar.
