En un anterior artículo comentamos los dos primeros álbumes de la banda alemana de rock progresivo Sahara (Subject Esq. y Sahara Sunrise) y de paso también un álbum publicado posteriormente con demos y canciones en vivo (Lost Tapes): 1974: Amanecer en el Sahara

La formación original estaba compuesta por:
- Hennes Hering (Hammond M3, Fender Rhodes, sintetizador Moog, Korg T3)
- Michael Hofmann de Boer (flauta travesera, saxofón alto, guitarra, cuerdas Elka, voz)
- Alex Pittwohn (guitarra Rickenbacker de 12 cuerdas, armónica, voz)
- Harry Rosenkind (batería, glockenspiel, percusión)
- Stephan Wissnet (bajo Fender Precision, melodía "Bass Maniac", voz)
- Nick Woodland (guitarras: Stratocaster, B-Bender Telecaster, Rickenbacker 660, Studio 6 steel guitar)

Formado en 1966 como The Subjects, el grupo grabó su primer álbum (1972) bajo el nombre de Subject Esq. Después de eso, el grupo cambió su nombre a Sahara y lanzó los álbumes Sahara Sunrise (1974) y For All the Clowns (1975). A finales de la década de 1970, la banda se separó.
Después de un largo descanso, el grupo estuvo activo en vivo nuevamente en 2006 en la formación original. El 2 de agosto de 2006, 40 años después de la fundación de la banda, tuvo lugar un concierto de reunión en el Festival Theatron. Otros aspectos destacados fueron el concierto al aire libre en el Festival Burg-Herzberg en julio de 2007, la actuación en el antiguo Blow Up, hoy Schauburg (Munich) en abril de 2008 y el evento de conciertos en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Munich en febrero de 2009. En octubre de 2019, la banda se separó.

Antecedentes
En 1975 hubo cambios en la formación de la banda: Holger Brandt (ex-Missing Link) sustituyó a Harry Rosekind a la batería y Gunther Moll sustituyó a Nicholas Woodland en las guitarras y Alex Pittwohn fue relegado a coordinador y técnico de sonido de conciertos.

Su tercer álbum, For All the Clowns, fue grabado en el Union Studio de Munich en agosto de 1975 y mezclado en el Morgan Studio de Londres.
El álbum mostró una evolución en el sonido de la banda, dejaban de lado los sonidos de saxos y harmónicas por mas teclados y guitarra.

Opinión personal
Es un rock progresivo sofisticado y de gran nivel que lamentablemente pasó desapercibido. El álbum abre con Flying Dancer con aires pop en la que buscaron quizás aumentar los seguidores. Le sigue The Source en la que destacan los solos de guitarra y teclados, con un comienzo suave se transforma en un tema épico. Y la cara uno finaliza con For All The Clowns, el tema principal, una bonita suite progresiva, que en los solos de guitarra me recuerda a Pink Floyd, algunos comentan que le recuerda a Gentle Giant. En la cara B nos encontramos con The Mountain King, la que entre la guitarra y la flauta nos recuerda a Jethro Tull. Dream Queen es una bonita balada progresiva, que entre la guitarra y la flauta nos recuerda a los primeros Genesis.

El álbum fue publicado en CD en 1993.
